Scholarship Programs

The Johnson Scholarship Foundation provides scholarship support to enable students who are disadvantaged or disabled to pursue their education.  Each institution awards individual scholarships using its own criteria, as described below.  The Johnson Scholarship Foundation requires that all recipients maintain a 2.0 grade point average. 

With the exception of two schools, the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind and Landmark East, these scholarships are for high school graduates to attend college or vocational school. 

The Foundation makes grants to educational institutions.  It does not award any scholarships or grants directly to individual students.  Applicants apply directly to one of the organizations listed below.

Palm Beach Atlantic University

The applicants must be qualified high school graduates who demonstrate financial need, with emphasis placed on students from middle income families.

Scholarships Available to Florida Employees of United Parcel Service

The children of  United Parcel Service employees or retirees who live in Florida are eligible for scholarship funds to attend college or vocational school in Florida.  Applicants must be qualified high school graduates who demonstrate financial need.

Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind

The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind is a K-12 grade school for deaf and/or blind students in Florida.

State University System of Florida

Applicants must be students with physical or learning disabilities who attend, or wish to attend, one of Florida’s eleven public universities: Florida A&M University, Florida Atlantic University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida International University, Florida State University, New College of Florida, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, University of Florida, University of South Florida, University of West Florida.  Apply directly to the university the student wishes to attend.

American Indian Tribal Colleges

Selected tribal colleges participate in the Johnson Foundation Entrepreneurship Scholarship program.  Scholarship applicants must be American Indians who are enrolled, or intend to enroll, in a tribal college's entrepreneurship or small business development program and meet requirements specified by the college.

Gallaudet University

Applicants must be deaf undergraduates who have demonstrated need and the desire to further their education.

Gonzaga University - MBA in American Indian Entrepreneurship

The Foundation provides scholarships for Tribal College faculty and staff to obtain an MBA from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.  This program has been specifically designed to allow a person to pursue his or her MBA while continuing to work at the Tribal College.  This 3-year program combines a 6-week session on campus each summer with distance learning courses from autumn through spring.  The program is delivered by the School of Business Administration at Gonzaga University which has one of the most highly ranked and respected MBA programs in the country.  The emphasis is on American Indian Entrepreneurship.  The Foundation pays 100% of the cost, including travel, on campus housing for students and family for summer sessions, supplies and tuition.    For further information and an application, contact Stacey Chatman, Program Coordinator at Gonzaga University School of Business at 509-324-4622 (direct line) or 800-986-9585, ext. 5991, or at chatman@jepson.gonzaga.edu.
